Ducati EDR (DDM - Ducati Data Monitoring)

Ducati started recording EDR-type data in 2021 with the Multistrada V4.   The data recording capabilities were introduced at the same time the Bosch radar based Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Sport Monitoring were implemented.  Ducati refers to the EDR-type data as the Ducati Data Monitoring system (DDM).  If the motorcycle is equipped with this monitoring system, it will be outlined in the Owner's Manual.  The EDR data is stored in the Black Box (BBS/BBU) located under the rear seat.  The Black Box has the capability of storing three events.  The events can be triggered in a few different ways; a tip-over sensed by the inertial measurement unit (IMU), or certain diagnostic faults/errors associated with the radar system, traction control system, or the antilock braking system (ABS) system.

Below is a partial list of the data parameters stored with the EDR event.

  1. Front wheel speed
  2. Rear wheel speed
  3. Throttle opening (front and rear)
  4. Twist Grip position
  5. Engine RPM
  6. Gear position
  7. Clutch position
  8. Brake light activation from front lever
  9. Brake light activation from rear pedal
  10. Front brake pressure demanded
  11. Front brake pressure supplied
  12. Rear brake pressure demanded
  13. Rear brake pressure supplied
  14. IMU roll angle
  15. IMU pitch angle
  16. IMU yaw rate
  17. IMU pitch rate
  18. IMU roll rate
  19. IMU longitudinal acceleration
  20. IMU lateral acceleration

          and much more..............

The data set is recorded at 10 Hz (0.1s intervals) with ~3.2 seconds of data pre-trigger and ~0.7 second post-trigger.
